Our Beliefs

The Bible:

We believe that the Bible, as written in the original manuscripts, was verbally and plenarily inspired of God and is the product of Spirit-controlled men, and therefore is infallible and inerrant in all matter of which it speaks.  We believe that it consists of 66 books of the Old and New Testaments and is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creed, unity and opinions should be tried. (II Timothy 3:16&17; II Peter 1:19-21)

The True God:

We believe that there is one and only one living and true God.  We believe that God the Father is an eternal infinite Spirit being, infinite in wisdom, perfect in holiness, measureless in power, that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, and He hears and answers prayer.  We believe that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that these three are one God, having precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections and is worthy of precisely the same honor, confidence and obedience.  (Exodus 20:2&3; Matthew 28:19&20; Mark 12:29; John 1:1-4; Acts 5:3&4; II Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:1-3; Revelation 4:11)

Jesus Christ:

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary, and that He is fully God and fully man.  We believe that He lived a sinless life, was crucified as a substitutionary atonement for man’s sin, was buried and rose again from the dead on the third day in His glorified body, ascended bodily into heaven where He now appears as our High Priest and Intercessor and sits on the right hand of God the Father.  (Isaiah 53:5&6, Matthew 20:28, Luke 24:36-43, John 20:25-28, Galatians 3:13, Hebrews 9:24, I John 2:1&2)

The Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, that He is the agent of the new birth who regenerates, indwells, empowers, baptizes, guides, teaches and sanctifies the believer.  (Genesis 1:2, Matthew 28:19, John 16:8-11, Romans 8:14, I Corinthians 3:16, 6:19, 12:12-14, Ephesians 1:13-14

We believe that Satan is a created being, that originally he was perfect, but that he fell through pride and rebellion against God; that he is the untiring arch-enemy against God and the souls of men, that he is malicious, deceptive and a counterfeiter of the works of God.  I believe he is the prince of this world and shall some day with his angels be cast into the lake of fire to be tormented forever.  (Job 1:6&7, Isaiah 14:12-15, Ezekiel 28:12-19, Luke 4:1-13, II Corinthians 4:4, Jude 9, Revelation 20)

We believe that man was created in innocence in the image and likeness of God, but by voluntary transgression Adam fell from his sinless and happy state and all men sinned in him.  In consequence of this all men are totally depraved, are partakers of Adam’s fallen nature, are sinners by nature and by conduct and therefore are under just condemnation without excuse.  (Genesis 1:26, 2:27, 3:1-6, John 5:40, 6:53, Romans 3:10-19, 5:12&19)

We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Savior; that salvation is instantaneous and not a process.  We believe our redemption was accomplished solely by the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, who was made to be sin and made a curse for us, dying in our stead for our justification.  We believe that salvation is solely by the power of the Holy Spirit in connection with divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel and that its proper evidence in the fruits of the faith, love, obedience and newness of life.  We believe that all who are truly born again are kept by God the Father for Jesus Christ eternally. (Leviticus 17:11, Matthew 26:28, Romans 5:6-9, I Corinthians 15:1-4, II Corinthians 5:21, Ephesians 1:7, 2:8&9, I Peter 1:18&19, John 3:16)

The Church:

We believe that the church is the Body of Christ, baptized into one body by the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation from the beginning of the church until the rapture.  We believe that the local church is an organized assembly of immersed believers, autonomous in government, associated by a covenant of faith and the fellowship of the gospel for the purpose of fellowship, worship, observance of the ordinances, evangelism, edification and discipline.  (Matthew 16:16-18, 18:15-18, Acts 2:41-47, 20:17-28, Romans 12:5, I Corinthians 11:28&29, 12:12-28, Ephesians 1:20-23, Philippians 1:1&6, John 10:28&29, Romans 8:35-39, I Timothy 3:1-13, Hebrews 10:25)

The Ordinances:

We believe that Christian baptism is the single immersion of a believer in water to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem of our identification with the crucified, buried and risen Savior through whom we died to sin and rose to a new life.  We believe that the Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of His death until He comes again, and that is should always be preceded by solemn self-examination.  (Matthew 28:19&20, John 3:23, Acts 2:41&42, Romans 6:3-5, I Corinthians 11:17-33, Colossians 2:12)

Last Things:

We believe in the pre-millennial, pre-tribulational return of Jesus Christ, an event that can occur at any moment.  We believe that at that moment the dead in Christ shall be raised in glorified bodies and the living in Christ shall be given glorified bodies without tasting death and shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.  We believe that the tribulation, which shall follow the rapture of the church, will be culminated by the revelation of Christ in power and great glory to sit upon the throne of David and to establish the millennial kingdom.  We believe that those who have trusted in Jesus Christ as personal Savior will spend eternity in heaven with God while the unsaved will spend eternity in the lake of fire with the devil and his angels.  (Isaiah 9:6&7, Daniel 9:25-27, Matthew 24:29-31, Luke 1:30-33, I Corinthians 15:51-57, II Corinthians 5:8, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 20:1-15)
